As Ralf Rangnick battles to turn around his underperforming club, Cristiano Ronaldo says finishing below the top three in the Premier League would be unacceptable.
Since taking over from the dismissed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the German interim manager has stabilized the ship, but United remains in seventh place, 22 points behind Manchester City.
United’s poor run, which culminated in a 1-0 loss to Wolves in their most recent league appearance, has prompted the five-time world player of the year to urge for a change in mindset within the dressing room.
“Manchester United should win the league, or at the very least finish second or third,” Ronaldo said on Sky Sports. “I don’t see Manchester United playing in any other position.”
In his perspective, the team’s mentality should be no less than being in the top three in the Premier League, according to Ronaldo.
“I believe that in order to develop excellent things, you must sometimes demolish a few things.” Fresh year, new life; I hope Manchester can achieve the level of success that its supporters desire. We have the ability to change things now.
He stated that he does not want to be in the club to fight for sixth or seventh place; instead, he wants to compete and win.
He stated that if the team’s mindset changes, they will be able to accomplish great things.
