Tottenham Hotspur is interested in signing Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard on a free transfer this summer, according to ESPN.
Lingard’s current Old Trafford deal expires in June. And it’s unlikely that the 29-year-old will agree to new conditions.
Spurs are one of many clubs interested in signing Lingard.
Other Premier League clubs, as well as teams from Spain and Italy, have expressed an interest.
Tottenham has expressed interest in Lingard but has yet to make an official offer.
Lingard is weighing his options and will likely join a club where he can play regular first-team games.
He wants to reclaim his position in the England squad ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, according to ESPN sources. His form at West Ham won him a spot in Gareth Southgate’s provisional squad for Euro 2020.
According to ESPN, Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte is pressing the team to bolster the squad in January, but any deal to sign Lingard is more likely to materialize in the summer.
Following a good loan spell at West Ham, he has only made 13 appearances for United this season.
