WhatsApp set to delete the accounts of those using GB WhatsApp

    By Oyindamola Ruth

One of social media Giant apps owned by Facebook, WhatsApp has announced plan to delete the accounts of users who are using WhatsApp Plus, and the GB WhatsApp, an alternative app offered by third parties.

According to Whatsapp’s formal speech, the company has already notified users of using unsupported apps, such as Whatsapp plusAnd the GB WhatsApp.

The company added that the third parties application violates their terms of service.

Having sent the notification, WhatsApp will suspend the account of those using an unauthorized version of WhatsApp instead of the official WhatsApp application.

The company warned that If after your account has been temporarily suspended you do not start using the official version of WhatsApp, your account could be permanently suspended.

How to switch to the official version of WhatsApp

You may need to keep a backup of your chat history before transferring your account to the official version of WhatsApp. The name of the rogue app determines whether your chat history needs to be transferred. Locate the app name in More options > Settings > Help > App info . Follow the instructions below according to the name of the application: WhatsApp Plus or GB WhatsApp.

If you are using any other application other than WhatsApp Plus or GB WhatsApp, we recommend that you save your chat history before downloading the official version of WhatsApp.

    GB WhatsApp

We recommend that you follow the steps below to save and transfer your chat history. Failure to follow these steps can result in the loss of your chat history. Please note that we cannot guarantee the success of the chat history transfer as unofficial applications are not compatible with WhatsApp.

    1. Wait for the temporary hold to end. The stopwatch will show the duration of the suspension.
    2. In GB WhatsApp, tap More options > Chats > Backup .
    3. Go to Phone Settings > tap Storage > Files .
    4. Find the GB WhatsApp folder and hold it to select it.
    5. In the upper right corner, tap More > Rename and change the folder name to “WhatsApp”.
    6. Open Play Store and download the official version of WhatsApp. If you can’t access the Play Store, download the app here .
    7. On WhatsApp, verify your phone number. Learn how to verify your number in this article .
    8. On the “Backup found” screen, tap Restore > Next.
    9. WhatsApp should load with your existing chats.
