Man City beat 10-man Wolves 1-0 after Raul Jimenez’s silly first-half red card. Raheem Sterling went on to score his 100th Premier League goal.
Jimenez was sent off for two yellow cards in the space of 31 seconds at the end of a sluggish first half, the first for a foul near halfway and the second for attempting to block the following free-kick.
Man City finally broke the deadlock with a controversial penalty award – Bernardo Silva’s cross hit Joao Moutinho’s armpit, but Jon Moss and VAR determined the ball had hit enough of the midfielder’s arm – allowing Sterling to reach his Premier League century from the spot, becoming the 32nd player to do so and the eighth-youngest at 27 years old.
City’s winning streak in the Premier League currently stands at seven games, and they will finish the weekend as league leaders, while Wolves remain winless and without a goal in four games.
The attacker noted that he really wanted to be in among the 100 clubs as he continues to shine after the international break.
