As Leicester’s injury woes increase, Jamie Vardy has been ruled out for up to four weeks with a hamstring injury.
Vardy, who turns 35 next month, had complained of a problem during last week’s Carabao Cup defeat at Liverpool and was sidelined for Manchester City’s Boxing Day match.
The striker, though, sustained the injury in Tuesday’s Premier League victory over Liverpool at Anfield.
Rodgers noted that Vardy’s injury was exacerbated by the club’s busy holiday schedule and the additional demands placed on players as a result of an increase in Covid cases.
Patson Daka is also injured and will miss the Africa Cup of Nations, while Kelechi Iheanacho is expected to fly to the competition next month, leaving Rodgers with few choices in the attacking third.
Better news for Leicester came in the form of James Maddison, who will be available for Saturday’s game against Norwich, his previous club, despite being forced out against Liverpool on Tuesday due to injury.
