Gianluigi Donnarumma, the goalkeeper for Paris Saint-Germain, has responded to Lionel Messi’s missed penalty against Real Madrid in the Champions League round of 16 first-leg clash on Tuesday.
Donnarumma also praised Kylian Mbappe, referring to the France international as an “alien” after PSG upset Real Madrid.
Thibaut Courtois stopped Messi’s penalty kick, but Mbappe scored in stoppage time to give Paris Saint-Germain a 1-0 victory over Real Madrid.
But Donnarumma, who kept a clean sheet against Real Madrid that night, defended Messi.
After the game, the Italy international told Sky Sport Italia, “I have nothing to say about Leo, these things happen to everyone.” We’ve all heard of Leo Messi. We have a lot of champions here who can influence the game; Kylian scored, but we all played fantastically.”
“Kylian is an alien, an extraterrestrial!” he added. You can see it in practice and in games between ranks; he’s simply great.
“I’m not sure what he’ll do next season; it’s up to him, but we’ll appreciate him every day he’s here.”
