Akungba accident: Mother dies of shock as Dangote truck kills her three children, final year students of Ondo varsity

A Nigerian mother has died of shock after being informed of the tragic death of her three children, who are final year students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo state.

In a Facebook post titled: ‘I am in deep pains and totally diminished as a mortal’,a former spokesman for the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, Mr Joe Igbokwe, said the mother of the three siblings killed in the crash also died of shock on Saturday after hearing the sad news about her children.

He wrote, “An accident occurred yesterday (Saturday) in Akungba, Ondo State….these three guys were from same parents, a trailer crushed the three of them together in their shop and they all died instantly. Their mum died on the spot on hearing the news. Two of them are final year students of Ondo State University…….”

Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba- Akoko (AAUA) shuts down

The school management of AAUA had on Sunday announced the closure of the school till further notice.

The directive to close down the school was contained in a circular issued by the acting Registrar, Mr Opeoluwa Akinfemiwa.

The circular read, “Further to our circular of Saturday, January 23, 2021 and the attendant protest by students on Sunday, January 24, 2021, the acting Vice-Chancellor, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, on behalf of the Senate, has directed that the university be closed with immediate effect until further notice.

“All students are therefore advised to vacate the campus latest by 6pm today, Sunday, January 24, 2021.”

Gunmen kidnap Benue varsity students

Suspected Gunmen have invaded and kidnapped some students of Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi on Monday, April 26th, 2021.

This is coming after Gunmen killed three students of Greenfield University, Kaduna state government confirmed on Friday.

Confirming the abduction of Benue varsity students, the university’s spokesperson Rosemary Waku said in a statement that reads below:

“The University has reported the incident to the police and all relevant security agencies.

“The University has not heard anything from the students or their captors since the unfortunate incidence took place.”

Mother, four children burnt to death in ilorin

Tragedy at Ilorin as fire burnt a mother, named Titilayo Adigun, and her four children to death on Wednesday night, March 17, in Ilorin, Kwara state.

As per media reports, her fifth child survived the inferno at Ifesowapo community, behind “F” Division police station Tanke, Ilorin.

It was gathered that the fire was caused by a candlelight that later resulted into flames, following days of power outage.

At the time of the inferno, it was the father of the house was not around.

As of time of filing this report, the only surviving child is said to be receiving medical attention at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH).
