    COVID-19: Saudi Arabia shuts down all flights over fear of new virus strain

    The government of Saudi Arabia has shutdown its land borders and international flights for a week over fear of new coronavirus strain.

    According to Saudi Gazette’s report, the suspension of all international flights, closure of land borders and sea borders will last for one week, adding that if there is emergency cases, it can be extended for another week.

    This decision was reached after UK announced new strain of the coronavirus in the country and other European countries.

    After the discovery of new strain of Coronavirus, United Kingdom imposed a tier 4 of lockdown in order to curb the spread.

    European countries, India, Canada  have also suspended flight from the UK over fear of the new strain virus.

    Atiku urges FG to halt all flights from UK

    Former vice president, Atiku Abubakar on Sunday reacted to the report of the discovery of new strain of Coronavirus in the United Kingdom.

    In a series of tweet, Atiku advised Federal government to ban flights coming from the UK in order to prevent the spread of the new strain of Covid 19.

    As of Sunday, 20th December, 2020, Nigeria Center For Disease Control announced 501 new cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 78, 434.

    Also, 68, 303 patients have been discharged so far and 1221 deaths recorded.
