Gunmen assassinate business man, Babatunde in Ondo state

A 38 years old businessman identified as Babatunde Adeluka Olubasa has on Saturday, December 26th, 2020, been assassinated by three suspected gunmen.

The Daily Page gathered that Babatunde was killed after he attended a function in Akure.

A source who spoke under anonymity added that three gunmen trailed the deceased to a hotel and shot him dead at the bar of the hotel where he had gone to get a drink

Confirming the incident, ASP Tee Leo Ikoro who is the spokesperson of the Ondo state police command said that the state police command has begun launched the investigation on the case of assassination of the Babatunde.

He said;

“We’ve commenced investigation trying to track down those who killed him. It’s an assassination.  At the time it happened, there was nobody else at the bar, except the bar girl. The bar girl said they came in three, waiting.

“The deceased lodged in that hotel and went out at some point in time. He came back and left again. By the time he came back, the assailants were already at the bar drinking. When he came back, he went into his room, took a bottle of wine and then called for a bottle of soft drink from the bar.

“When he got to the bar, the three guys asked a lighter from him to light their cigarettes, and he said no. It was at that point they pull out their guns and shot him. The assailants left the hotel when he gave up the ghost

“We’re on their trail right now. The Commissioner of Police has ordered a full investigation into the incident. To u, we’re thinking it’s an assassination. But the investigation will unravel all that happened.”

Suspected Gunmen have invaded and kidnapped some students of Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi on Monday, April 26th, 2021.

This is coming after Gunmen killed three students of Greenfield University, Kaduna state government confirmed on Friday.

Confirming the abduction of Benue varsity students, the university’s spokesperson Rosemary Waku said in a statement that reads below:

“The University has reported the incident to the police and all relevant security agencies.

“The University has not heard anything from the students or their captors since the unfortunate incidence took place.”

Mother, four children burnt to death in ilorin

Tragedy at Ilorin as fire burnt a mother, named Titilayo Adigun, and her four children to death on Wednesday night, March 17, in Ilorin, Kwara state.

As per media reports, her fifth child survived the inferno at Ifesowapo community, behind “F” Division police station Tanke, Ilorin.

It was gathered that the fire was caused by a candlelight that later resulted into flames, following days of power outage.

At the time of the inferno, it was the father of the house was not around.

As of time of filing this report, the only surviving child is said to be receiving medical attention at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH).
