Aurelio De Laurentiis, the president of Napoli, has stated that his team will not sign any more African players until they consent to forgo competing in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Kalidou Koulibaly of Senegal and Andre Zambo Anguissa of Cameroon missed many games for the Serie A team since they were representing their countries at this year’s AFCON, which was held in January and February.
Victor Osimhen, a striker for Nigeria, was sidelined due to injury.
“I told them, lads, don’t talk to me about Africans anymore.
“I love them, but either they sign something confirming they’ll back out of playing the Africa Cup of Nations, or otherwise between that tournament, the World Cup qualifiers in South America, these players are never available,” De Laurentiis said according to Football Italia
