Matheus Nunes, a midfielder for Sporting Lisbon, is slated to make an unexpected move to Chelsea this summer.
Chelsea is prepared to make Nunes their first acquisition under Todd Boehly by moving forward with a £43 million bid.
A Bola, a Portuguese publication, claims that Chelsea is prepared to “attack” the market this summer and make an offer for the 23-year-old.
In addition to an extra £4 million in add-ons, the Blues intend to offer about £39 million for Nunes.
Wolves, a Premier League rival of Chelsea, are rumored to be interested in him, but the report claims that the player doesn’t find moving to Molineux appealing, leaving Chelsea free to plan their move.
This summer, he was said to be leaving Sporting amid interest from Wolves and Everton, but Chelsea has since surfaced as his likely destination.
This summer, he made 33 appearances for Sporting in Liga NOS, directly assisting on five goals.
