Nollywood actor, Yomi Fabiyi has asked the Nigerian police to release his colleagues in the movie industry, Baba Ijesha on bail.
This is coming after Lagos State government charged Baba Ijesha with five counts of crimes for allegedly defiling a minor. For this reason, Baba Ijesha is likely to risk life imprisonment if convicted.
The Daily Page reports that Baba Ijesha was arrested by police for allegedly molesting a underaged girl who is the foster child of Comedian Princess.
Since his arrest, Baba Ijesha has been in police custody.
However, Yomi Fabiyi said it is illegal to deny anyone bail.
He stated this on his Instagram story, adding that “it is against the law to hold any suspect down longer than allowed under our law without trial/ bail bail for any bailable offense in Nigeria.”
He, therefore, described continued Baba Ijesha’s detention in police custody as illegal.
He added: “To continue to hold him is against his fundamental rights. It is injustice and abuse of power. Do not indulge it.
“No more police illegal detentions. Know your rights and fight for it.”
