The most recent information regarding Barcelona’s pursuit of Jules Kounde from Sevilla has been released by manager Xavi Hernandez.
Because the Catalan club wants to strengthen its team in front of the upcoming season, Xavi claimed that the Barcelona board is working to complete Kounde’s signing.
This summer, the in-demand defender has been linked to moves to Chelsea and Barcelona.
A £55 million bid for him was approved by Sevilla earlier this week, and the French defender verbally committed to a five-year deal with Chelsea.
However, he has been persuaded to wait for Barcelona, and as a result, he has temporarily shelved plans to join Chelsea.
Speaking on Barcelona’s move for the Sevilla defender, Xavi was quoted by Fabrizio Romano as saying: “We are at work to improve the squad, the board is working on it. I can’t say more [on Koundé].
“If we’ve to announce something, we will do it. Barcelona are more than optimistic.”
