The Egyptian Football Federation was fined $100,000 by the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) Disciplinary Board for neglecting to hold a pre-match news conference ahead of their quarter-final encounter against Morocco last weekend.
This was revealed in a statement posted on the CAF website.
It comes before the Pharaohs’ 2021 Africa Cup of Nations semi-final match against hosts Cameroon, which is set to take place on Thursday.
The Egypt Football Association (EFA) has been fined $100,000 USD by the CAF Disciplinary Board, with 50,000 USD suspended, for violating CAF TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Cameroon 2021 media norms and guidelines.
According to CAF, this comes after the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) failed to hold a media press conference on January 29, 2022, ahead of their match against Morocco in the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinals at Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium, as required by all participating teams.
The statement also noted that Egypt FA has 60 days to pay the 50,000 USD fine.
