Kepa Arrizabalaga, Chelsea’s goalkeeper, has spoken out for the first time since he missed a crucial penalty in their 11-10 shoot-out loss to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final.
In the final minutes of extra time, Kepa came on to replace Edouard Mendy.
Kepa, on the other hand, failed to replicate some of his recent heroics and then shot his kick wildly over the bar.
The 27-year-old admits to being “disappointed,” but vows to “keep working.”
“To rise and fall. Disappointed after putting in a lot of effort during the tournament. We continue to work.
“Thank you for your support, @ChelseaFC family,” Kepa tweeted.
Chelsea had won the Super Cup, thanks to Kepa’s two penalty saves, including the game-winning spot-kick from Raul Albiol.
Chelsea won in a shoot-out in the third round of the Carabao Cup after Kepa saved a penalty from Aston Villa’s Marvelous Nakamba.
