On Saturday, the list of 28 players who will represent Nigeria at the AFCON 2021 was announced, with many regulars making the cut.
However, there were some unexpected additions to the team that will travel to Cameroon in January.
CAF increased the number of players per squad from 23 to 28 in October to provide for extra players in the event that some of the team’s members were ruled out due to Covid.
Kelechi Nwakali, who has been out of the international spotlight, will make his AFCON debut alongside Watford’s Emmanuel Dennis, who is returning to the side for which he last played last year.
The only NPFL player on the list is Enyimba FC’s, John Noble.
