Egypt coach has requested that the Africa Cup of Nations final against Senegal be postponed to give them more time to prepare.
The Egyptians defeated hosts Cameroon on penalties in Thursday’s semi-final.
“I want to inform the CAF authorities that Senegal has an extra day of training, so perhaps we should play the final on Monday,” Egypt’s assistant coach Diaa al-Sayed urged after coach Carlos Queiroz was sent off in the semi-final.
After a goalless 120 minutes in Yaounde, Egypt triumphed 3-1 in a shootout, while Senegal defeated Burkina Faso 3-1 in normal time the day before.
In the last 16, the Egyptians needed extra time and penalties to win the Ivory Coast, and in the quarter-finals, they beat Morocco 2-1 in extra time.
