Jules Kounde, a star for Barcelona, has revealed how he declined a transfer to Manchester City despite the fact that manager Pep Guardiola told him he “liked” him.
Kounde said the former Barcelona manager made an effort to get him to transfer to Manchester City.
After a long negotiation between the Catalans and Chelsea, the France international relocated from Sevilla to Nou Camp during the summer.
The defender waited for Barcelona despite Chelsea’s owners’ frantic attempts to get him and reports that they had an agreement with Sevilla.
And now Kounde said that a year prior to Manchester City signing Ruben Diaz, his name was also on the club’s list.
Asked if he’d had interest from Manchester City, Kounde said: “Yes, in my first year at Sevilla [the end of the 2019-20 season].
“He [Guardiola] called me. He told me that he loved me and that he thought I would fit the way he played.”
