The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed that the national team will play Mexico in a pre-World Cup friendly in 2022.
The Super Eagles did not qualify for the tournament in Qatar, but El Tri is one of the 29 teams that have secured their spots.
Mexico will play Argentina, Poland, and Saudi Arabia in Group C.
Despite the fact that they are not in a group with any African countries, Gerardo Martino’s side will face Nigeria as part of their World Cup preparations.
On May 28, the friendly will be held in Texas, United States.
The tweet from the NFF’s verified handle announcing the friendly read: “Official: Nigeria’s @NGSuperEagles will face the El Tri of Mexico in an international friendly game on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at the AT&T Stadium, Arlington, Texas. #SoarSuperEagles.”
