Thomas Tuchel, Chelsea’s manager, says he doesn’t understand why the Premier League won’t allow additional substitutes.
The German is displeased that only three substitutes are still permitted in the English Premier League, particularly amid the busy festive season and the onset of COVID.
The former Borussia Dortmund manager stated he couldn’t understand why England has fewer substitutes than the rest of Europe.
Chelsea played on Sunday and will play against Brighton on Wednesday night.
He said it makes no sense, but it’s a circumstance, and it’s concerning that they are struggling, that they have injuries, and that they have players who have been affected by Covid, and that they don’t have time to recover.
Tuchel admits that, they are in the midst of a bizarre situation in which all teams are severely impacted, and he doesn’t see why Premier League can’t employ the five changes, which were started in the UK when the coronavirus first appeared.
