    Bandits attack government college in Niger, 27 students kidnapped

    Some unknown bandits have attacked a Government Secondary School in Kagara, headquarters of Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State.

    As per media reports, the bandits abducted the students and some of the staffs the school on Wednesday, February 17th, around 3am. Also, a student of the school was shot dead while trying to escape the attack.

    Giving an update, Secretary to the Government of Niger state, Ahmed Matane, revealed that 27 students,  as well as three members of staff and 12 members of family of the abducted staff of the school were abducted by gunmen.

    ”The gunmen came camouflaging in school uniforms. That was how they got into the school. They started by attacking the staff quarters before they got to the dormitory where the students were. They were able to abduct three staff and twelve family members of the staff,” Matane disclosed on Arise TV.

    “After holding on to those staff and their families, they now moved into the dormitory were students were.

    As at this morning, they had kidnapped 27 students. One student was unfortunately shot dead.”

    BUHARI DISPATCHES SECURITY CHIEFS TO RESCUE STUDENTS

    President Buhari has dispatched security chiefs to rescue the students and some of the staff abducted in a school at Niger state.

    This was disclosed, in a series of tweet by Personal Assistant to President Mohammadu Buhari on New Media, Bashir Ahmad.

    He wrote, ”PresidentBuhari has assured of the support of his administration to the Armed Forces in their brave struggle against terrorism and banditry and urged them to do all that can be done to bring an end to this saga, and avoid such cowardly attacks on schools in the future.

    “Our prayers are with families of the victims of this attack,” said the President as he condemned as cowardly the attack on innocent school children.
