According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has been effectively forbidden from ever living in the United Kingdom again.
For months, Abramovich has not been seen at his Premier League football club’s home in south-west London, Stamford Bridge.
He withdrew his application for a British Tier 1 investor visa in 2018, citing delays caused by criticism of Russian oligarchs in the aftermath of the Salisbury poisonings.
According to The Sun, senior security officials now believe the 55-year-old will never be allowed to live in the United Kingdom again.
Immigration authorities are reportedly being told to make it impossible for Mr. Abramovich, who owns a £125 million property near Kensington Palace, to stay in the country.
The Home Office’s ‘Special Cases Unit’ is alleged to be handling his case.
It comes after Mr Abramovich was named by MPs on Tuesday as one of 35 oligarchs identified by Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny as “major supporters” of the country’s president Vladimir Putin’s “kleptocracy.”
